Parenting by Faith Instead of Fear
Our children are precious to us, so naturally we want to protect them and guarantee their safety and happiness. We want to get it right, so our children will be all right. But we live in a broken world where things don’t always (or ever?) go as planned. Children make mistakes, and, if they are honest, parents know they make mistakes too. So it’s easy for parents to live in fear, regret, confusion, and sometimes hopelessness about parenting and the children they love. Is there a better way? Can you learn to live by faith, to trust the God who made you and your children with their past, present, and future? How can parents live by faith as they parent their children?
These are questions that are best answered in community. Rose Marie Miller, a mother and grandmother who is familiar with being afraid and also the power of the gospel to free you, is a wise and experienced guide for your small group as you tackle these issues by looking at what God has to say about his love, forgiveness, and care for you and your child. This ten-session small group resource will help parents apply the gospel of Jesus Christ to their families. Each lesson looks at parenting through the lens of God’s grace for sinners (parents and children) and gives parents a gospel center to their parenting. Parents will learn how to live out the biblical principles of faith, repentance, and faithfulness to their calling as parents with their children. Each lesson is self-contained, featuring clear teaching from Scripture, and requires no extra work outside of the group setting. The self-explanatory Leader’s Guide at the back of the book helps small group leaders with discussion questions and background material that clearly explain and apply the gospel truths from each lesson.

"I so wish I had this book forty years ago, before I became a parent. Want (need) some fresh reflection on the implications of the gospel for how we love our kids to the glory of God? Start here. Practical without being pragmatic; thoughtful without being cliché; refreshingly honest and pregnant with hope. A parent as chief repenter and thirstiest person for grace in the family system? You betcha. Huge thanks, hugs, and kudos to Rose Marie Miller, Deborah Harrell, and Jack Klumpenhower for this extraordinary gift.”

The Gospel Centered Life: At Work
(Leader's and Participants Guide)
Author: Robert W. Alexandar
Publisher: New Growth Press
Tired of the Daily Grind?

If you asked a dozen Christians why their work matters, you’d probably get a dozen different answers. Whether paid or unpaid, skilled or menial—each of us longs to find meaning in what we do from day to day. Can the gospel really help us in our quest?
The Gospel-Centered Life at Work invites CEOs and homeschooling parents, doctors and plumbers, white, blue and pink collar-workers to sit down and discuss our work as a common call to follow Jesus in all of life. Whether we struggle with complaining at work, defensiveness, fearing the future, frustration, or troubling ethical decisions—work brings challenges to each of us that we cannot handle apart from Christ. The Gospel-Centered Life at Work shows us how to turn to Jesus in repentance and faith and to both work and rest in Him.
The 10 lessons in this small group study help participants to build a bridge from personal faith to the difficulties and drudgeries of the daily grind. Each lesson in The Gospel-Centered Life at Work is self-contained, featuring clear teaching from Scripture, and requires no extra work outside of the group setting. The self-explanatory Leader’s Guide helps small group leaders with discussion questions and background material that clearly explain and apply the gospel truths from each lesson.
  • Provides a gospel-centered framework and a common language by which Christians from all walks of life can understand their work
  • Examines two gospel dynamics of work: how God shapes Christians through our work and how God shapes workplaces through the labors of Christians
  • Addresses the real work of unpaid workers like stay-at-home moms, students, and retirees
  • Features 10 self-contained lessons with clear biblical teaching and no homework required

Testimonial:

“This is an incredibly important guide. I know of no other book that so fully incorporates the meaning of the Gospel and of our work and what it means for my life as a Christ follower in the marketplace. It is equal parts illuminating, practical, inspiring, and encouraging. In the truest sense of the word rich, I am a richer man for having read it. I will recommend it to all that I come across.”

The Prodigal God
(book study)
Author: Tim Keller
Publisher: Zondervan
In this six-session small group Bible study, pastor and bestselling author Timothy Keller uses one of Jesus’ best-loved parables – the Prodigal Son – to illustrate the depth of God’s love and how his grace extends into some very unexpected places.
Taking you beyond the traditional focus on the wayward younger son, Keller helps you glean insights from each of the characters in Jesus' parable: the irreligious younger son, the moralistic elder son, and the Father who lavishes his love on both. Inside this guide, you'll explore questions for group discussion and personal reflection, and exercises that will help you experience the truths of Jesus' parable in your own life. The gospel is neither religion nor irreligion, but something else entirely. Whether you're a devout believer or a skeptic, The Prodigal God will challenge you to see Christianity in a whole new way.
This Prodigal God Discussion Guide will help you uncover, personalize, and apply life-changing insights from The Prodigal God DVD and book. In six captivating sessions, pastor and New York Times bestselling author Timothy Keller opens your eyes to the powerful message of Jesus' best known―and least understood―parable. The Prodigal God is a revelation of the very heart of the gospel: God's radical love for sinners of every kind.
This Discussion Guide is designed for use together with The Prodigal God DVD and book (both sold separately). Idols of the Heart
Learning to Long for God Alone
(Book Study)
Author: Elyse Fitzpatrick
Publisher: P&R Publishing
Have you ever seen a Buddhist temple or walked through a museum exhibit filled with statues of gods? We tend to think of idols as something outside us. They're something foreign, something we take pictures of in far-off temples of museums, something we wonder at.

But God's Word tells us that idolatry is something more than temples, incense, and food offerings. idolatry has to do with love—our love for God, our love for others, and our love for the world. When we look at idolatry in these ways, we understand that we're not so different from those people we observe in temples so far away.

Elyse Fitzpatrick helps us to examine the idols of our hearts and, ultimately, to pursue godly lives free from the habitual sins that trap us. When our affections are turned to Jesus Christ, he can once again reign in our hearts.
